Daily Devotion: The Presence of God by J.E. Smith

Bible Reading: Isaiah 41:9-16 KJV

Key Verse:  "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
- Isaiah 41:10 KJV

Living in the presence of God is a profound and transformative experience that brings joy, peace, and purpose to our lives. The Bible assures us that God is always with us, guiding and comforting us through every season of life. His presence is not limited to specific moments or places, but is available to us at all times. As we seek to draw closer to Him, we find that His presence brings us strength, hope, and a deep sense of fulfillment.

One of the most comforting truths in the life of a believer is the constant presence of God. From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture reminds us that we are never alone. God is not distant or indifferent. He is Emmanuel— God with us (Matthew 1:23b). When Moses doubted his ability to lead Israel, God didn’t give him a strategy first; He gave him a promise: "Certainly I will be with thee..." (Exodus 3:12a)

In the same way, God's presence is the answer to our fears, insecurities, and uncertainties. Life often brings challenges that seem beyond our strength including health battles, broken relationships, financial stress, but God’s promise remains: "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." (Hebrews 13:5b)

His presence is not dependent on how we feel. Even in the silence, even when prayers seem unanswered, He is there. Psalm 139 beautifully reminds us that there is no place we can go where God is not already present: "If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there."(Psalm 139:8)

As we seek to live in God's presence, we are called to draw near to Him with all our hearts. Jeremiah 29:13 says, "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart". This verse encourages us to pursue a deeper relationship with God, knowing that He is always waiting for us. When we seek Him with sincerity and devotion, we will find Him, and His presence will transform our lives.

The question becomes how much do we truly desire God's presence in our lives on His terms? In the video below Paul Washer describes his journey to obtain the presence of God in his life.
