Daily Devotion: Salvation Test 1 of 10: Profound Change In Your Life by J.E. Smith

Key Verse:  "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV

As the Holy Spirit works in our life, our desires, attitude and actions will change. As an ambassador, representing the most high kingdom of God, we will no longer feel comfortable using off-color language, tolerating sexual innuendos and generally living the life we did before. If there were no changes in our life, then there was no salvation - you are not part of the saved few.

One of the best examples of a profound change in a person's life after their salvation was Zacchaeus in Luke 19. The Bible tells us that Zacchaeus was a publican (tax collector), and he was rich. It was common knowledge at the time that tax collectors cheated the people they collected from. They would collect more than was required and keep the extra for themselves. Everyone just understood that was how it worked.

The tax collector Zacchaeus, in his confession to the Lord, mentioned his past dishonesty (Luke 19:8 KJV) saying, "Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold." Now that was a profound change!
