Daily Devotion: How A Person Can Be Genuinely Saved (1 of 2) by J.E. Smith

Bible Reading: Isaiah 53:1-8 KJV

Key Verse:  "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."
Isaiah 53:6 KJV

First you must acknowledge that you are a lost sinner in need of a savior

"If our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are LOST." - 2 Corinthians 4:3
"All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." - Romans 3:23
"The wages of sin is death." - Romans 6:23
"There is none righteous, no not one: There is none that seeketh after God." - Romans 3:10,11
"All we like sheep have gone astray." - Isaiah 53:6

This is the first major hurdle. As noted in an earlier devotional, most people think that they are saved and going to heaven. They are trusting in things that are not Biblical and thus will not get them into heaven.

Things that will NOT get you into heaven:

- Being Christened, Baptized or Confirmed.
- Your good works. Doing good daily.
- Praying daily.
- Going to church.
- Your church membership.
- Your position in the church. There are lost deacons and pastors.
- Giving money to the church.
- Believing in God.

Once you acknowledge that you are a lost sinner, then, and only then can you understand that you have a debt to God that you are unable to pay.  Continued in the Next J.E. Smith Devotional...
