Bible Reading: John 5:34-41 KJV
- John 5:39 KJV
In the previous test, you were asked to evaluate if you were ashamed of Jesus. Not being ashamed of Jesus could be passive, where you are willing to talk about Jesus if someone else brings Him up. John 5:39 takes it one step further saying, "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."
The model of what we should do is presented in Acts 4:33, "And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all." Here the apostles were testifying (telling others) what they had seen with their own eyes, heard with their own ears, and touched with their own hands. They gave a personal, eyewitness account of Christ’s resurrection.
Likewise, believers are commanded to tell others of what they have witnessed firsthand in their own life. Though we have not seen Jesus face-to-face as the apostles did, our conversion experience is a supernatural work of God. We should take every opportunity to share with boldness and humility what Jesus has done for us and the change that it has produced in our life.
When in a group of unbelievers are you willing to start a conversation to share your faith and tell them what Jesus has done for you in your life? Share the salvation message? If you never start a conversation about Jesus or care to talk about Him, then there was no salvation - you are not part of the saved few.
