Key Verse: "And when all things
shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject
unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all."
- 1 Corinthians 15:28 KJV
God Is A Spirit
In the Bible, there are numerous verses that describe who God is. One such passage is from John 4:24, which states, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." This verse emphasizes that God is a spirit, meaning, He is not confined to a physical form and exists beyond the material world.
God Is Love
Another verse that highlights God's nature is 1 John 4:8, which says, "He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." This verse underscores that God is love, indicating His compassionate and caring nature towards His creation.
God Is Sovereign
Furthermore, in Psalm 115:3, it is written, "But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased." This verse illustrates that God is sovereign and all-powerful, capable of doing all things according to His will.
God Is The Creator And Sustainer Of All
God is also described as the creator and sustainer of all things. In Colossians 1:16-17, it is stated, "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist." This passage emphasizes God's role as the creator and sustainer of all creation.
God Is All Powerful (Omnipotent)
In Jeremiah 32:17, God's omnipotence is affirmed when He says, "Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee." This verse highlights God's immense power and ability to accomplish all things.
God Is Merciful, Longsuffering, Good, Truth, Gracious And Just
Additionally, in Exodus 34:6b-7, God declares, "The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation." This passage reveals God's attributes of mercy, grace, and justice.
In conclusion, as noted in our Key Verse above, may God be our all in all. All the above attributes, and many more not mentioned, provide a glimpse into the nature and character of God, inviting us to worship and know Him more deeply.
