Key Verse: "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:" - Colossians 2:6 KJV
A Life That Begins and Continues in Christ
The Christian life does not start with Christ and then continue in our own strength, it both begins and continues in Him.
“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him…” (Colossians 2:6, KJV)
The same faith that saved you is the faith that sustains you.
“…the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God…” (Galatians 2:20, KJV)
Rooted in Christ
“Rooted and built up in him…” (Colossians 2:7, KJV)
To be rooted means:
- Your foundation is in Christ
- Your strength comes from Him
- Your life draws from Him daily
“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water…” (Psalm 1:3, KJV)
A rooted life is:
- Stable in storms
- Consistent in growth
- Nourished continually
Built Up and Established
“…and stablished in the faith…” (Colossians 2:7, KJV)
Abiding produces:
- Strength in trials
- Stability in uncertainty
- Confidence in truth
“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love…” (Ephesians 3:17, KJV)
A Life of Overflowing Thankfulness
“…abounding therein with thanksgiving.” (Colossians 2:7, KJV)
A life rooted in Christ naturally overflows with gratitude.
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18, KJV)
Thankfulness is a sign that we recognize:
- God’s provision
- God’s presence
- God’s goodness
Abiding Produces a Steady Life
“And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times…” (Isaiah 33:6, KJV)
A life fully abiding in Christ is not:
- Driven by emotions
- Shaken by circumstances
- Controlled by fear
It is steady, grounded, and anchored in Him.
Christ at the Center of Everything
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…” (Hebrews 12:2, KJV)
Abiding fully means:
- Christ is your focus
- Christ is your source
- Christ is your goal
Everything flows from Him and returns to Him.
Reflection
A life of abiding is not about perfection, it is about connection.
It is waking up each day and choosing:
“Lord, I will remain in You.”
Not striving.
Not wandering.
But staying rooted, grounded, and dependent on Christ.
Prayer
Lord, help me to abide fully in You. Root my life deeply in Your truth and Your love. Strengthen my faith and keep me steady in every season. Teach me to walk with You daily and depend on You completely. Let my life be built on You and overflow with thankfulness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
