Key Verse: "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." - Isaiah 53:5 KJV
The crucifixion is the central moment of all history—the place where love and sacrifice meet. Jesus is led to Calvary, mocked, beaten, and nailed to a cross. Yet even in His suffering, His words reveal His heart: “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” Instead of anger, He offers forgiveness.
On either side of Him hang two criminals. One mocks, but the other believes. In a simple act of faith, he says, “Lord, remember me…” And Jesus responds with grace: “To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.”
Even in His final moments, Jesus is still saving.
As darkness covers the land, Jesus bears something far greater than physical pain, the weight of sin. When He cries, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” we glimpse the cost of our redemption.
Then comes the victorious declaration: “It is finished.”
Not “I am finished,” but the work is finished. The price for sin has been fully paid.
At that moment, the temple veil is torn from top to bottom, symbolizing that the barrier between God and humanity has been removed. Through Jesus, we now have direct access to God.
The cross is not defeat, but instead it is victory!

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for the cross. Thank You for taking my place and paying the price for my sins. Help me to live in the freedom You have given me and to share Your love and forgiveness with others. Amen.
