The Transfiguration is a moment where heaven touches earth, and the true glory of Jesus is revealed. Up on a mountain, away from the crowds, Peter, James, and John witness something extraordinary, Jesus transformed before their eyes, His face shining like the sun and His clothing radiant with light.
For a brief moment, the veil is pulled back, and they see Jesus not just as a teacher or miracle worker, but as the glorified Son of God.
Moses and Elijah appear with Him, representing the Law and the Prophets. Their presence points to a powerful truth: everything in Scripture finds its fulfillment in Jesus.
Peter, overwhelmed, suggests building three tabernacles, as if to give equal place to all three. But God the Father interrupts with a clear declaration: “This is my beloved Son… hear ye him.” Jesus is not one among many, He is the One.
The disciples fall in fear, but Jesus comes, touches them, and says, “Arise, and be not afraid.” Even in His glory, His compassion remains.
When they look up, they see “Jesus only.” This is the heart of the moment. In all of life, confusion, fear, revelation, or awe. We are called to fix our eyes on Jesus alone.
