Saul of Tarsus was a man driven by zeal. Convinced that followers of Jesus were a threat, he actively sought to silence them. With authority from the high priest, he traveled toward Damascus, intent on arresting believers and bringing them to Jerusalem. But on that journey, everything changed.
Suddenly, a light from heaven flashed around him, and Saul fell to the ground. He heard a voice say, “Why persecutest thou me?” Confused, he asked, “Who are You, Lord?” The answer came: “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.”
In that moment, Saul encountered the risen Christ, not as an idea or rumor, but as a living reality. The one he opposed was truly Lord. Blinded by the light, Saul was led into Damascus, where for three days he neither ate nor drank, waiting in darkness.
Meanwhile, the Lord spoke to a disciple named Ananias, instructing him to go to Saul. Understandably afraid, Ananias hesitated, he knew Saul’s reputation. Yet God reassured him, declaring that Saul was a chosen instrument to carry His name before Gentiles, kings, and the people of Israel.
Obediently, Ananias went. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus… has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes. His sight was restored, and he was baptized.
Saul’s conversion is one of the most powerful reminders that no one is beyond God’s reach. A persecutor became a preacher. An enemy of the faith became one of its greatest messengers. God did not just change Saul’s direction, He transformed his heart and gave him a new purpose.
This story also highlights the role of obedience. Ananias, though afraid, trusted God and became part of Saul’s transformation. Sometimes, God calls us to step into uncomfortable situations to be a vessel of His grace.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You that no one is beyond Your saving grace. Transform my heart where it needs to be changed, and give me the courage to follow You fully. Help me to trust Your plans, even when they seem uncertain, and use me as a vessel to bring Your light to others. Amen.
