Key Verse: "And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda." - Acts 9:42 KJV
As the church continued to grow, the apostles traveled to strengthen and encourage believers. Peter, moving from place to place, came to Lydda where he met a man named Aeneas. Aeneas had been bedridden for eight years, paralyzed and unable to help himself. Peter said to him, “Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and make your bed.” Immediately, Aeneas rose. The miracle was undeniable, and many in Lydda and Sharon turned to the Lord.
Not far away, in Joppa, there was a disciple named Tabitha (also called Dorcas). She was known for her acts of kindness and charity, always helping the poor and those in need. When she became sick and died, the believers were heartbroken. Knowing Peter was nearby, they urgently sent for him.
When Peter arrived, he was taken to the upper room where Tabitha’s body lay. Widows stood around him, weeping and showing the garments Tabitha had made for them, evidence of her love in action. Peter sent them all out, knelt down, and prayed. Then he turned to the body and said, “Tabitha, arise.” She opened her eyes, sat up, and Peter presented her alive to the believers.
News of this spread quickly, and many people believed in the Lord. Peter stayed in Joppa for some time, continuing to minister and prepare for what God would do next.
These two miracles reveal both the power and the heart of God. In Aeneas, we see Jesus’ authority to heal and restore. In Tabitha, we see His compassion for a life devoted to serving others. Her story reminds us that acts of kindness matter deeply, they leave a lasting impact on those around us.
God works through willing vessels. Peter did not rely on his own strength but on the power of Jesus. Likewise, we are called to be instruments of God’s love, serving faithfully, praying earnestly, and trusting Him to work in ways beyond our understanding.

Prayer
Lord, fill my heart with compassion and my hands with purpose. Help me to serve others faithfully, just as Tabitha did. Teach me to trust in Your power and not my own. Use my life to bring hope, healing, and encouragement to those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
