As the early church continues to grow, something beautiful begins to take shape, not just in their message, but in their lifestyle. They are described as being of “one heart and one soul.” This unity goes beyond words, it is reflected in how they treat one another. They no longer see their possessions as their own, but as resources to be used for the good of the entire community. Needs are met. No one is lacking.
This kind of generosity is not forced or commanded, it flows naturally from hearts transformed by the gospel. When people truly understand the grace they have received, they begin to live differently.
The resurrection power of Jesus is not only preached, it is demonstrated through love, compassion, and sacrifice.
One example given is Barnabas. He sells land and lays the money at the apostles’ feet, trusting God and supporting the needs of others. His act of generosity becomes a model of faith in action.
This passage challenges us to consider how we view what we have.
Do we hold tightly to our possessions, or do we see them as tools for God’s purpose?
The early church reminds us that true community involves care, generosity, and a willingness to meet the needs of others. It is a reflection of Christ’s love working through His people.
