As the message of Jesus spreads, opposition quickly follows. Peter and John are arrested and brought before the Sanhedrin, the same council that had condemned Jesus. The question they are asked is direct: “By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?” This moment could have been intimidating. These were powerful leaders, and the consequences could be severe. But something is different now.
Peter, once fearful, now stands boldly, filled with the Holy Spirit. Without hesitation, he declares that the healing and the message come through one name alone: Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Then he makes a powerful and exclusive statement: “Neither is there salvation in any other…” This truth remains at the center of the Christian faith. Salvation is not found in good works, religion, or human effort, it is found in Jesus alone.
The leaders are astonished. They recognize that Peter and John are not highly educated men, yet they speak with authority and confidence. What is the difference?
“They had been with Jesus.”
That is the source of their boldness. Even when commanded to stop speaking about Jesus, they refuse: “We cannot but speak…” Their obedience to God outweighs their fear of man.
This passage reminds us that following Christ may bring opposition, but it also brings courage, clarity, and conviction. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit and grounded in truth, we can stand firm no matter the pressure.

Prayer
Lord, give me boldness to stand for You, even when it is difficult. Help me to trust in Your power and to speak the truth with courage. Let my life reflect that I have been with You. Amen.
