Key Verse: "But ye shall receive
power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be
witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria,
and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

As the book of Acts begins, we find the disciples in a season of waiting. Jesus has risen. He has appeared to them. He has given them their mission. But before they go out into the world, He gives them one crucial instruction: Wait. “Wait for the promise of the Father.”
This promise is the Holy Spirit, the source of power they will need to fulfill their calling. Though they have walked with Jesus, learned from Him, and witnessed miracles, they are not yet ready to carry out the mission on their own strength.
And neither are we.
Too often, we want to move ahead quickly, relying on our own ability. But Jesus makes it clear: the work of God must be done with the power of God.
So the disciples wait, not passively, but prayerfully. They gather together in unity, seeking God with expectation. In that waiting, their hearts are being prepared for what is to come.
Then comes the promise: “Ye shall receive power…”
This power is not for personal gain, it is for a purpose: “Ye shall be witnesses unto me…”
From Jerusalem to the ends of the earth, the mission is global. And it begins with a small group of faithful believers, waiting on God.
This same promise is for us today. Through the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to live boldly, to share the gospel, and to fulfill God’s purpose for our lives.

- Wait on God’s timing instead of rushing ahead
- Seek the Holy Spirit’s power in your daily life
- Commit to prayer and unity with other believers
- Live as a witness for Christ wherever you are
Prayer
Father, help me to wait on You and trust Your timing. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and give me the power to live for You. Use my life as a witness to others, and guide me in Your purpose each day. Amen.
