After the agony of the cross comes a quiet, somber moment, the burial of Jesus. Joseph of Arimathea, a wealthy and respected man, courageously steps forward to care for Jesus’ body. Along with Nicodemus, he wraps Him in linen with spices and lays Him in a new tomb. This act fulfills prophecy and shows that even in death, God’s plan is unfolding perfectly.
The disciples are scattered. Hope seems lost. The One they believed in now lies in a sealed tomb.
A large stone is rolled into place. Roman guards are stationed. The tomb is secured.
From a human perspective, this is the end.
But heaven knows, it is only the beginning.
The silence of the tomb is not defeat; it is divine preparation. God is still working, even when nothing seems to be happening.
For the followers of Jesus, this was a day of confusion, grief, and waiting. They did not yet understand that resurrection was coming.
And often, our lives mirror this moment.
There are seasons when God feels silent, when prayers seem unanswered, and hope appears buried. But just as with the tomb, silence does not mean absence.
God is still at work behind the stone.

- Trust God even in seasons of silence and waiting
- Remember that what looks like an ending may be God preparing a new beginning
- Remain faithful when you don’t yet understand His plan
- Hold on to hope—resurrection is coming
Prayer
Lord, in the quiet and uncertain moments of life, help me to trust You. When I cannot see what You are doing, remind me that You are still working. Strengthen my faith to wait with hope, knowing that Your promises never fail. Amen.
