Key Verse: "He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." - Matthew 28:6 KJV
The resurrection of Jesus is the greatest victory in all of history. After the silence of the tomb, early on the first day of the week, everything changes. The stone is rolled away, not to let Jesus out, but to let the world see that the tomb is empty. Death could not hold Him. The angel’s words echo through time: “He is not here: for he is risen.”
What once seemed like defeat is revealed as triumph. The cross paid the price for sin, and the resurrection proves that the payment was accepted.
Jesus appears first to Mary Magdalene, calling her by name. In her grief, she did not recognize Him, until He spoke. This reminds us that even when we don’t see clearly, Jesus knows us personally and calls us lovingly.
Later, He appears to His disciples, speaking peace into their fear. The same men who were hiding behind closed doors are transformed into bold witnesses—all because they encountered the risen Christ.
The resurrection is not just an event, it is a promise.
Because Jesus lives:
- Sin is defeated
- Death is conquered
- Hope is alive
The empty tomb means that nothing is impossible with God.
Life Application
- Live with the hope and confidence of the resurrection
- Let the risen Jesus replace your fear with peace
- Remember that no situation is beyond God’s power
- Share the good news, He is risen!
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for the victory of the resurrection. Because You live, I have hope. Fill my heart with Your peace and help me to live boldly in the truth that You have conquered sin and death. Amen.
